Wind power hitting the blades generates a force that rotates the turbine rotor. A rotating rotor converts mechanical energy into electrical energy with generator assistance. The produced electrical energy is connected to the grid and delivered to the consumers.     The UK is recognized as one of Europe's top wind energy hubs and a global leader in the sector. By 2023, the country will have over 11,000 wind turbines, generating a total installed capacity of 28 gigawatts (GW). The UK has the world's sixth-highest wind power capacity, with an even split between onshore and offshore installations.

    There is no denying that wind power is on the rise as part of the UK's energy mix. A quarter of the country's electricity is generated from this renewable source. This achievement overtook coal and nuclear power in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
