THE HISTORY OF GAMAK

Contents

Gamak was established in 1961 to provide the domestic production of "electric motors" required by the Turkish industry. In 1965, the company expanded its product range by starting the production of 71, 80, and 90-type cast iron motors. In 1966, the company further expanded its product range with the production of 100, 112, and 132-type cast iron motors and 71 and 90-type aluminum motors. In 1967, the company started to manufacture 160 types of cast iron motors and 80 types of aluminum motors. In 1968, the production area was expanded with the production of 180 and 200-type pig iron motors. In 1970, the company switched to the production of 225 and 250 types of cast iron motors and 100, 112, and 132 types of aluminum motors. In 1971, the production of 56 and 63 types of aluminum engines was started and in 1977, the production of 315 types of pig iron engines was completed.

In 1980, a new production facility was opened in Dudullu, and a cast iron workshop in Topkapı. In 1991, 355 type cast iron motors were produced and a test laboratory was established in 1994. In 2005, 400 cast iron motors and 160 and 180 aluminum casing motors were manufactured.

In 2010, Gamak manufactured 200 types of aluminum motors, including medium voltage motor manufacturing (3300 V 400 kW) and load test capability studies up to 900 kW - 11 kV, and revised the test laboratory. In 2011, 450 types of peak motors were manufactured and in 2012, IE1 energy efficiency class motors were switched to IE2 energy efficiency class motors. In 2013, 355 types of heat-exchanger pig iron motors were manufactured.

In 2014, the institutionalization process was initiated with the transition to professional management. In 2015, mass production of IE3 energy efficiency class motors was started. In 2016, Turkey's first and only certified smoke evacuation motor production was started and elite body motor mass production was initiated.

Gamak was designated as an R&D center in 2017 and started mass production of centrifugal switched single-phase (CCS) motors in this process. In 2019, ex-proof motor manufacturing activities were started, and then wind turbine generators at the 4MW level were included in the scope of mass production. In 2022, with the opening of the new service building, Gamak took the steady growth and development process it has been pursuing since its establishment to a new stage and started mass production of IE4 energy efficiency class motors.
